Sheth Mafatlal Gagalbhai High School

The journey of education in Devgad began in 1880 with pioneering social activists introducing English classes, which later led to the establishment of L. R. Joshi Memorial Sriram English School. In 1934, the Devgad Education Board laid the foundation for a new institution, completed the following year through generous donations. Renamed Sheth Mafatlal Gagalbhai High School in 1938 to honor Shrimant Sheth Mafatlal Gagalbhai’s philanthropy, the school steadily expanded and by 1941 students were appearing for matriculation examinations.

Today, the school offers classes from 5th to 10th standard in Marathi and Semi English mediums, accredited with ISO Certificate No. 102290224. With 18 classrooms, a library of nearly 7,000 books, laboratories, computer facilities, and a playground, it provides a nurturing environment for both academics and extracurricular growth.
Recognized as a board examination centre, it also hosts a wide range of academic and cultural competitions, from scholarship exams and subject contests
A mid day meal program supports student well being, while the English Department and Club enrich learning through creative activities such as role plays, speeches, storytelling, interviews, games, and exhibitions.
From its humble beginnings, S. M. G. High School has grown into a vibrant center of learning, inspiring generations and fostering holistic personality development.

The English Department and English Club of S. M. G. High School, Devgad organize a variety of activity-based programs to enhance students’ communication skills, creativity, and confidence in the English language.
These activities include ,Role play with appropriate costumes, Speech and Story telling,Competitions, Conversations, Interview sessions, Fun and Learn games, Poems and Songs Singing, Exhibitions of Posters and Teaching–Learning materials. Guidance for different language activities is also provided to help students participate actively.
Through these creative and interactive activities, students get opportunities to express their ideas, showcase their talents, and develop their language abilities. The main aim of these initiatives is to encourage students’ creativity and promote their overall personality development.
