Future Initiatives: Experiential Learning in Devgad
Considering the rich natural resources, extensive coastline, and unique biodiversity of the Konkan region, our institution’s future initiatives go far beyond traditional textbook-based learning. We aim to promote Experiential Learning by providing students with hands-on, real-world educational experiences through the following innovative projects.
Agri-Education Projects
The Konkan region is globally renowned for its Alphonso mangoes, cashews, coconuts, and betel nuts. Considering the importance of agriculture in this area, the institution has envisioned implementing the following educational projects.
1) School Nursery:
Hands-on training for students in plant propagation, grafting techniques, soil testing, and organic compost preparation.
2) Kitchen Garden & Medicinal Plants:
Development of a kitchen garden and medicinal plant section, supported by a Digital QR Code Garden, where students can access detailed information about each plant through QR codes.
Environment and Biodiversity
The Konkan region is rich in biodiversity. Recognizing this potential, the organization has set a vision to implement the following nature-based projects.
Konkan Biodiversity Hub: Mini-museum of rare flora, fora, fauna, and bird species of the Western Ghats
Fisheries and Marine Science
Beyond agriculture and inland nature, Konkan boasts a 720-km coastline. The institution aims to leverage this coastal geography for educational purposes, offering skill-based learning that fosters job creation in the maritime sector.
Aquaculture Project: A small-scale fish farming unit (aquarium or pond) designed to help students learn the scientific principles and economic aspects of aquaculture.
Skill Development & Vocational Training
Recognizing that the modern era focuses on expertise, the institution has planned the following initiatives dedicated to skill enhancement and vocational education
1) Food Processing Unit: A dedicated training center where students receive practical training in processing mangoes and jackfruits into value-added products such as aam papad, jams, and pickles.
2) Our goal is to develop skilled workers and technicians to meet employment opportunities in upcoming ports in the Konkan region.
Tourism & Hospitality Management
With tourism growing rapidly in the Konkan region, our institution will offers skill-based programs at the junior college level
