Inspiring History

The journey began in the pre-independence era of the 1880s.

  • In a facility-deprived Devgad, education enthusiasts dedicated themselves to the mission of starting local education.
  • Private classes that began in 1880 were transformed into ‘Shriram English School’ on March 3, 1919.
  • This marked the true beginning of secondary education in the Devgad Taluka.
  • On December 9, 1933, the sons of Devgad settled in Mumbai came together to establish the ‘‘Devgad Education Board’‘.
  • Sahityasamrat N. C. Kelkar served as the institution’s first President.
  • Under his guidance and the determined efforts of individuals like Raobahadur Acharekar, the institution began its rapid progress.

Our Founding Pillars

We express our deepest gratitude to the great individuals who played a lion’s share in shaping this institution:
The Symbol of Generosity: Shrimant Sheth Mafatlal Gagalbhai In 1938, his donation of ₹13,500 (a massive sum at the time) led to the school being named ‘Sheth Mafatlal Gagalbhai High School‘. His philanthropy laid the foundation for the school’s magnificent building.

Pioneer of Educational Revolution

Jagannath Anant Kelkar

Recognizing the need for secondary education in Wada (Devgad), the ‘Anant Krishna Kelkar High School’ was established through his donation. This contribution played a major role in opening the doors of education in rural areas.

Dr. Shankar Anant Tenkshe

During his 28-year tenure (1942–1970), he led the school through its ‘Golden Age’. In 1965, he was honored with the ‘National Ideal Teacher’ award.

A master of mathematics and a skilled administrator. In the 1970s, he further enriched the school’s legacy of discipline and quality.
